Coupling effects in a multi stage of bistable micropumps for high positive or low negative pressures

Combining bistable working piezo driven micropumps to a multistage assembly enable new functions and pressure areas. In this project, the basic interaction of the single actuators with each other as well as the design rules, both for the bistable actuators and the interaction, are investigated. The main objectives are to study how the single actuator units work in a cascade, the dead volume influences the performance of the cascade, the valve properties influence the cascade and to understand the interaction of the actuator units in the multistage assembly.
